We built PolicyIQ, an AI assistant software platform for school boards, district leaders, and K-12 administrators who need to create, update, and manage school policies faster. This EdTech AI software combines policy drafting, reusable templates, document-aware AI workflows, policy history, and export-ready outputs so teams can turn a rough idea or reference file into a polished school policy draft in one workspace.

About the project
AI policy management software for school boards and K-12 teams
School board policy work is often spread across Word documents, PDFs, compliance notes, board packets, and email threads. That slows policy updates, creates version-control problems, and makes it harder for K-12 leadership teams to move from research and source materials to board-ready policy language.
PolicyIQ was designed as a specialized AI software product for education governance. Instead of starting from a blank page, users can prompt an AI policy assistant, choose a template, attach supporting documents, and build school policy drafts inside a version-aware policy management workspace made specifically for school board policy resources.
Core goals for the AI policy assistant platform
Help school boards create and revise policies with an AI assistant built for school board policy workflows
Support policy drafting from prompts, templates, and uploaded PDF, Word, Excel, and text files
Keep policy versions, history, and active edits organized in one K-12 policy management web app
Make completed policy language easy to copy, export, and share for board review, approval, and adoption
Approach
How we built an EdTech AI assistant for policy drafting
We approached PolicyIQ as a workflow-first EdTech AI assistant, not just a generic chat interface. The product was designed around how school board teams actually create policies: starting from templates, bringing in source documents, refining AI-generated language, preserving policy history, and preparing final text for district and board review.
AI-first policy drafting experience
We created a welcome flow where users can describe the policy they need in plain language and immediately start an AI-assisted drafting process. This gives school board members a faster entry point than blank-page writing.
Template-based school policy toolkit
Because recurring school policies follow recognizable patterns, we added a dedicated policy toolkit and template selection flow. Users can begin from reusable policy structures instead of rebuilding sections and formatting from scratch.
Document-aware AI software workflow
We supported uploaded PDF, Word, Excel, and text files so the AI assistant can work from real source material. That lets district teams reference existing policies, notes, and supporting documents without re-entering everything manually.
Versioned policy history and management
We structured the product around living policy records with recent items, searchable policy history, and version-aware policy management. This makes it easier to compare, refine, and reuse policy drafts over time.
Export-ready web app for board review
The final workflow supports copying and exporting policy text so AI-generated drafts can move smoothly into district review, board review, and real administrative adoption.
Outcome
PolicyIQ launched as an AI policy management web app for school boards and K-12 organizations. Instead of a generic chatbot, the product delivers a specialized AI assistant for education policy drafting, template-based editing, document-aware workflows, policy history, and export-ready outputs.
AI Policy Drafting
Users can describe the policy they need in plain language and generate school policy drafts with an AI assistant designed for education governance workflows.
School Policy Templates
A reusable policy toolkit gives school boards a faster way to create and revise policies from proven structures instead of rebuilding recurring documents manually.
Document-Aware AI Assistant
The AI workflow supports PDF, Word, Excel, and text uploads so policy generation can be grounded in real source files, notes, and legacy policy documents.
Policy History and Version Control
Recent policies, searchable records, and version-aware editing give teams a cleaner policy management process across ongoing board and district work.
Export-Ready Policy Output
Completed policy language can be copied or exported, helping school board teams move drafts into approval, communication, and implementation workflows.
EdTech Web Platform
PolicyIQ brings AI assistant features, template-driven authoring, file analysis, and policy management into one EdTech web product built for K-12 governance teams.
