Amble is an iOS planner built for the way ADHD brains actually work. Instead of asking people to sit down and sort their thoughts — the exact thing ADHD makes hard — it takes a 60-second voice dump or a block of typed text and turns it into clear tasks, each with a time estimate and an easy first step. It then picks three doable things for today and tucks the rest away.

Everything runs on the phone. Voice dumps and notes are processed on-device and never leave it, no account is required, and the app works offline.

Amble - ADHD brain dump and daily planner iOS app

About the project

Adults with ADHD abandon productivity apps for a predictable reason: setting up the system becomes the procrastination. Almost every planner assumes the user can sit down, break work into steps, estimate it, and prioritise it — which is precisely the executive-function work that ADHD makes expensive.

The second failure mode is emotional. Overdue counters, broken streaks and nagging badges turn one bad morning into a reason to close the app and never reopen it.

The goal was an app that does the sorting for the user, rebuilds itself from each day's input so there is near-zero maintenance, and never punishes a missed task — while keeping deeply personal voice notes fully private.

Approach

We started from the emotional job to be done rather than a feature list, and shaped the product around one core loop: dump → sort → today's three.

  • Capture with no structure required. A 60-second voice recording or free-form typing. Nothing has to make sense, and nothing has to be categorised first.
  • On-device sorting. Speech and language processing run locally on the phone, converting a ramble into discrete tasks with a duration estimate and a concrete first step. Anything that is not actually a task is surfaced as "what I heard" and parked, so it stops circling without becoming a to-do.
  • Today's three. The planner deliberately surfaces only three tasks so a backlog of twenty-seven stops competing for attention at once.
  • Re-plan from now. When the day goes sideways, one tap rebuilds the remainder of the day from the current moment, shrinking or moving what no longer fits — instead of leaving a wall of red.
  • No guilt mechanics. No streaks, no overdue states, no punishing badges. Notifications are capped, quiet at night by default, and written to invite rather than nag, in a warm adult tone that never infantilises.
  • Private by design. Because the model runs on-device, there is no backend holding user content: no account, no sync of personal notes, and full offline operation.
  • Native iOS build with subscription tiers via StoreKit, localised for English, German and Spanish.

Outcome

Amble shipped to the App Store as version 1.0 — a native iOS app, free to download with weekly, monthly and annual subscription tiers, localised in English, German and Spanish.

The result is a planner that carries the executive-function load instead of handing it back to the user: a minute of talking produces a realistic plan for the day, a bad morning is one tap away from a workable afternoon, and the most personal input a productivity app can ask for never leaves the device.
